Visit by Olympic Rower Rebecca Edwards

30th Sep 2024

Delighted to have GB Olympic rower Rebecca Edwards (BEM) in school yesterday to speak to the children. She explained how she first came to be a rower and how much training is involved to reach the top level of her sport, including having a strict diet. The children listened really well and asked lots of interesting questions. 🚣🚣‍β™€οΈπŸš£‍β™‚οΈπŸš£πŸš£‍β™€οΈπŸš£‍♂️

We asked if there was one piece of advice she could give to the children in Drumhillery and that was, 'Always try your best.' Not everyone will achieve the sporting excellence she has but we can all give her best efforts in whatever field we are in!

Rebecca is passionate about inspiring young people from Northern Ireland and showing them it is possible to achieve whatever you put your mind to.

She has won a European Silver Medal and has also been awarded the British Empire Medal (BEM) for her services to sport.πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸš£‍β™‚οΈπŸš£‍β™€οΈπŸš£πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰

Thank you Rebecca for taking time out of your busy schedule to come to Drumhillery PS! We really enjoyed your visit!

We'll put some more photos on our school website soon!
