Jubilee Fun Day
Our school was awash with colour today as we enjoyed our eagerly awaited Platinum Jubilee Fun Day. There was great style on show as the children and staff dressed up to make it a 'royal' occasion to be remembered. Some went for the 'Sunday best' look while others dressed up as kings, queens and princesses, but everyone looked really smart. The crowns were absolutely amazing! Well done to all our creative parents 🙂!
We had a colourful playground parade at 10:00am then launched into a range of activities which lasted all day. This included a bouncy castle, tug o war, welly throw, rounders, hopscotch, skipping challenges etc as we tried to focus on playground games enjoyed by generations of children over the past 7 decades.
Our cook, Mrs Govan, prepared some delicious chicken nuggets and chips for lunch. The hall was superbly decorated with Union Jack bunting, table cloths and flags. Even the cups and plates were red, white and blue! Lord Mayor of ABC Council, Alderman Glen Barr, also popped in to say hello to everyone at lunchtime. The day was complete when Harry dropped in with his ice cream van at 2:00pm and staff and pupils enjoyed some delicious 'whippies.'
School is all about making lasting memories for the children and everyone will definitely remember Drumhillery's Jubilee Day for years to come!
